Performance is a word that gets thrown around a lot in the exercise community. Folks tend to hear it and immediately think of impressive feats of strength such as Olympic weight lifting or an NFL athlete making the game winning play. But we need to remember that human performance is simply the ability to complete a function or task (Per Merriam-Webster). Tasks can range from your everyday walking to highly skilled and specific like pitching a baseball.
For athletes with goals to achieve, performance should be your focus. You want trainers and coaches that will improve your speed, power, and skills. And you also want athletic trainers, doctors, and physical therapists who understand your drive and your goal: to perform at your sport better than the other athletes on the field.
And if you are not an athlete – well, we think you should be focused on performance too! Just a different type. Your goals in rehab or with a personal trainer may be to maintain your general health and ability to get ready in the morning, reach that coffee mug on the top shelf, and lift the creamer out of the fridge.
Either way, performance is the name of the game. You need the physical capacity (Mobility, Flexibility, Strength, Endurance, Stability, Speed, and Power) to perform the tasks ahead of you in the manner you desire. Because of this, we believe in a thorough assessment for each person that comes through our doors before deciding on the program needed. We want to understand any restriction that slows you down so that we can appropriately provide the solution tailored to your needs.
If you come to see us, you can rest assured that we will help you reach your goals. We will help you solve pain and regain any lost capacity in your body, and then we will help you improve where you need it. Our goal is to help you reach yours – and to make sure you have the tools to succeed and be less at risk for any future injuries.
